The Whoosh team is comprised of media-savvy publishers, data-driven developers, podcast-hungry project managers, dedicated designers and creative content curators led by Founder and CEO, Edmund Caldecott. The one major thing the whole team has in common is our desire to improve passengers’ journeys from A to B.

As our founding brand, Spoken Ink, we strike our first onboard entertainment deal with British Airways, supplying 30 audio short stories every month

Spoken Ink signs up major audio publishers and podcasters around the world in seven different languages; representing international brands such as Penguin Random House, The Financial Times, The Economist, Simon & Schuster, The Guardian, Bloomberg. We now supply over 3,000 audiobooks, podcasts, destination and language guides every year to all of the world’s tier one airlines

SPOKEN INK AT YOUR BEDSIDE

2011

Spoken Ink strikes our first deal with Hospedia to provide entertainment platforms across three continents, Australia, United Kingdom and the U.S.A.

BORED ONBOARD?

2012

We win our first train line media deal, supplying First Great Western with audio for their back seat entertainment system

WHOOSH LAUNCHES

2014

We enter a partnership with Icomera, the world’s leading supplying of onboard WiFi. Together we deliver the UK’s first onboard rail entertainment system to Northern Rail, enjoyed on passengers’ own personal devices. We partner with ScotRail the following year

HOLLYWOOD APPROVED

2016

In partnership with Icomera, Whoosh launch the world’s first browser-based, Hollywood-approved onboard entertainment system on London Midland

WHOOSH WINS BIG

2017

Whoosh win Gold in the 2017 Customer Experience Awards. With the new browser-based solution, London Midland’s onboard entertainment usage hits 70% of WiFi users. London Midland’s NRPS scores soar, matching Virgin for the first time in their history

'LOVE ME TENDER'

2017 - 2018

Whoosh and Icomera trial and win the tender for onboard entertainment on FlixBus. Passengers rate the entertainment portal 4.1 out of 5.

This is followed by tenders for onboard entertainment on Grand Central and London South Eastern.

Whoosh and Icomera go live with onboard entertainment on National Holidays and Shearings.

Whoosh wins the contract to support Icomera on Volvo Prevost coaches in the USA.

Whoosh supports Icomera in their successful tender for Toronto’s WiFi and entertainment bid.

Advertising revenue allows four Whoosh partners to break even on their annual infotainment costs

WHOOSH GOES GLOBAL WITH 1 BILLION JOURNEYS

2019
Whoosh and Icomera win the contract to serve 300 commuter coaches for Facebook employees.

Whoosh and Icomera launch Bustle – a new product for the bus market.

Whoosh goes live on Autobus Maheux coaches in Canada, and Red Arrow coaches in the US.

Whoosh launches Dwell – a new entertainment product for airports.

Whoosh partner with Icomera to deliver onboard entertainment to trains and coaches in Australia.

Whoosh partner with Amazon on South Eastern to deliver Amazon Originals to UK train passengers for the first time.

Whoosh sign Rakuten Kobo as an international partner.
